Marc Kenney is originally from Opelika, Alabama, and was raised in Beauregard, Alabama. Marc's dad started teaching him how to play guitar when he was only five years old. By the age of ten his playing had advanced to the point of his mother investing in formal guitar instruction for him. He studied folk music which taught him over twenty different styles of finger picking. Marc?s dad started including him in his band, playing gigs in small bars, at the tender age of fourteen. By age twenty-four, he found himself playing clubs along the famous Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. During his time in Memphis, Marc became a member of the Memphis Songwriter?s Association. His membership in the MSA provided him the opportunity to meet and work with many famous songwriters including Keith Sykes and Pat & Pete Luboff. By age thirty, Marc had attended American Guitar Institute in Memphis, TN where he majored in music theory and mastered the guitar. While at the Institute, Marc learned to play the harmonica and piano. Since then he has competed on TV's Nashville Star and made the front page of the Nashville newspaper as one of that show's top finalists. In addition to writing songs that were picked up by Matchbox 20 and Rob Thomas, he has written and recorded three albums.
